Rumors of the sewers in Korpel are held in discussion most frequently among the
townsfolk. Many a tale has been recited describing a battle with one of the
dangerous rat-like beasts that occupy the damp place. It's said such beasts run
rampant in the sewers, attacking those that dare to venture into their domain -
and occasionally stealing items from the surface, at the owner's expense (and
more likely than not, his life).
The pipes and tunnels twist darkly into the earth; most adventurers can be easily lost down there. Some of the more knowledgeable people in Korpel will hint to the existence of a powerful creature that lives in the deepest, most secret caverns of the sewers, slowly collecting treasure and wealth. The same people will tell you that it's unwise to face him alone, that he deems himself King of the Sewers, and that power does indeed follow his arrogance. Frankly, it's a mystery why people go down there - greed is strong motivator indeed. |
