story:
Talorien has fallen victim to the same plague that all large civilized cities suffer, the Gully Dwarf!

Though they claim kinship to dwarves, gnomes are the more likely relation. However, no respectable dwarf or gnome will allow such a comment to pass without a fight. Some Talorien scholars claim that gullyd warves are more likely the result of a failed magical solution to the trash and rodents found in most major cities. As of this date, the latter explanation has not brought social activists to call for an examination of the more "noble qualities" of the gully dwarf, but this may also be due to the fact that Talorien maintains a water supply free from halucogens.

The typical gully dwarf has a humanoid body, standing at two feet for the malesand a few inches shorter for the females, that is when you can tell them apart.

Gully dwarves spend most of their time underground in their tunnels. Strong hands and compact muscular bodies make gully dwarves capable diggers. Gully dwarves have an insatiable desire for treasure, which most of the other races throw away as trash. Collectors of trinkets, the gully dwarf has been known tocome across a bonifide treasure from time to time. Most every creature is an enemy of the gully dwarf, not that the gully dwarf has chosen this for itself, with the exception of the giant rat. It has been reported that the gully dwarf has found a way to "domesticate" giant rats, using them as man would use a mule. There are even reports of gully dwarves mounted on giant rats while wielding tiny spears that charge humans who enter their sacred places. This is most likely a tale for children, because who can imagine a gully dwarf sacred place?

Several Talorien beggars have claimed they were attacked near the town dump, even sporting small cuts and puncture wounds. So far the citizenry has laughed it off, thinking it an amusing new tale used to create sympathy and a steady flow of alms.
