| A long time ago, before the emperor had taken hold of the land and made his
seat of office in Talorien, four evil dragons wrestled for control of the mystical city. The inhabitants of Talorien were at the mercy of the mighty dragons who were largely indifferent to the fates of the everyday people. One day, strange Lizard beings entered Talorien. They named themselves Guardians, and said that they could help rid Talorien of the relentless dragons. Their origin is unknown, though some have said the lizard Guardians spring from the gate of immortality. An adventurer might summon them in time of great need, but said adventurer would have to sacrifice himself, surrendering his soul and undead corpse to the Guardians for all time. Once summoned to Talorien, the Guardians set about to imprison the dragons in hidden lairs. Some have said that the avenue to these lairs can be found in the twisting maze of the UnderDark although that could be mere baseless rumor. The Guardians have guaranteed that the dragons will remain trapped, and have confined them in a hidden place for thousands of years. If by some mishap those dragons should ever be freed Talorien and its people would surely feel their wrath. |
